Magazines are great because they are both cyclical and novel. Every issue has the same basic foundation, but tells an entirely new story. I learned so much about the world of publication design while designing this magazine. I love the creative challenge of giving readers something that exceeds expectations in every issue. I’ll be honest, I walked into this with no experience in magazine design or upland sporting. It was such a great opportunity to wrap my head around, and to discover commonality in, a world entirely different from my own. Every day was spent exploring the psychology of my reader—How will they see this story? How can I work with and learn from our readers, writers, photographers to provide the truest upland experience possible?
